NEET UG 2023 Counselling Rounds

The NEET UG 2023 counselling will consist of the following rounds:

  • Round 1
  • Round 2
  • Mop-up Round
  • Stray Vacancy Round

After the completion of these initial rounds, additional counselling rounds may be conducted based on the availability of vacant seats.

Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2023 Counselling

To participate in the NEET 2023 counselling process, candidates must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  1. Qualify for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)
  2. Register on the official website of MCC
  3. All candidates, including those from the UT of J&K, can participate in the counselling for AIQ seats and deemed universities.

The NEET 2023 counselling covers all government and private medical, dental, and certain nursing colleges across the country. This ensures a wide range of options for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate medical programs.

NEET Counselling Process

The NEET UG counselling process consists of several stages:

1. Registration

Candidates need to register on the official website of MCC, which is www.mcc.nic.in. They must click on the ‘Online Registration’ tab and enter their NEET 2023 Roll Number, Password, and Security Pin. During the registration process, candidates will be required to provide personal details, academic information, and details mentioned in their NEET result.

2. NEET Counselling Registration Fee

Candidates must pay the NEET 2023 counselling registration fee, which varies depending on the category and seat type. The fee structure is as follows:

  • For 15 percent AIQ/Central Universities:
    • General category: INR 1,000 (non-refundable fee)
    • SC/ST/OBC/PWD category: INR 500 (non-refundable fee)
    • General category: INR 10,000 (refundable tuition fee)
    • SC/ST/OBC/PWD category: INR 5,000 (refundable tuition fee)
  • For Deemed Universities:
    • All categories: INR 5,000 (non-refundable fee)
    • All categories: INR 2,00,000 (refundable tuition fee)

3. Choice Filling

After completing the registration process, candidates need to log into their registered account on the MCC portal and fill in their choices of courses and colleges in the desired order of preference. Candidates can choose any number of options from the provided list and can add, delete, move up, or move down choices as per their preference. It is crucial to save a copy of the filled choices for future reference.

4. Choice Locking

Candidates must lock their entered choices during the specified period to obtain a printout of their submitted choices. It is important to review the choices carefully before locking, as they cannot be modified or changed afterward. Candidates should not wait until the last minute to register, lock choices, or take a printout to avoid any inadvertent mistakes.

5. Verification by Universities and Processing of Seat Allotment

The universities and colleges will verify the registration details and choices submitted by candidates. Based on these choices, they will release the seat allotment result.

6. Seat Allotment Result

MCC will release the provisional seat allotment result, allowing candidates to submit objections if necessary. Subsequently, the final seat allotment list will be published. Candidates can either accept the allotted seat, proceed with the institute reporting round, or choose to upgrade their seats. Further rounds of counselling may be required for those opting for upgradation.

7. Reporting to the Allotted College

Candidates who receive seat allotments must report to the allocated institutes within the given deadline. During this reporting process, candidates’ documents will be verified, and they will need to confirm their seat. Failure to report to the allocated institute on time will result in the cancellation of their candidature.

Reservation of AIQ Seats in NEET 2023

The Government of India has implemented the following reservations in 15 percent AIQ seats for MBBS and BDS through NEET UG counselling:

  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • PwBD (Horizontal Reservation): 5%
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 27% (only in National Institutes/Central Universities)
  • EWS: 10% (only in National Institutes/Central Universities)
