JKBOSE to Hold Exams for Classes 10-12 from February 15, 2025

Government Restores November-December Academic Session for Kashmir, Winter Zone of Jammu; JKBOSE to Hold Exams for Classes 10-12 from February 15, 2025

In an effort to re-establish the traditional November-December academic calendar for students in the Kashmir region and the winter zone of Jammu, the government has directed the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) to begin examinations for classes 10th to 12th on February 15, 2025, and conclude them by the end of March. This decision was formalized in Council of Ministers decision no. 005/02/2024, dated October 31, 2024.

According to the newly issued guidelines, the November-December academic session will resume fully for classes 1st to 9th for the current academic year (2024-25), with examinations set for November and December 2024. However, for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th, the transition to the November-December session will take effect from the academic year 2025-26. For the ongoing 2024-25 academic session, the exams for these senior classes will be held between mid-February and March 2025 to ensure a smooth shift.

Furthermore, as per the order issued by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, the annual summative assessments for class 8th will now be conducted by individual schools starting from the 2024-25 academic session onward.

This directive aims to align the region’s school calendar with the prevailing academic structure while accommodating the specific seasonal and logistical needs of the Kashmir and Jammu winter zones.
